Board of Christian Education – The purpose of the Board of Christian Education is to develop and promote the program of Christian nurture of the church and to develop educational programs about the C.M.E. Church, its history and doctrine.

Christian Methodist Men’s Ministry
The purpose of the Christian Methodist Men’s Ministry is to  minister to the needs and concerns of men in the C.M.E. Church while also addressing the systemic problems that males face under the social, economic and political inequalities that pervade the nation and the world.  Mission:  Fulfilling the purpose by providing fellowship and mentoring opportunities to boys and men within and outside the church.  Man Boy Breakfast meets the 3rd Saturday of each month at 9:00 a.m. in the lower level. Brother John McClure, President 

Choir
– The purpose of the Choir is to furnish singing for the worship service; usher the glory of the Lord into the worship service; accompany the prophetic preached word; and prepare the way for God’s victory.  Rehearsals are held each Thursday at 6:00 p.m. in the church sanctuary.

Commission on Evangelism  The purpose of the Commission on Evangelism is to spread the “GOOD NEWS” of Jesus Christ and enhance the spiritual life of the congregation.  All members of the church are encouraged to become involved.  Meetings are held every third Sunday following church service. 

Condolence Clerk
– The Condolence Clerk sends condolences to bereaved families on behalf of the Pastor and members of Russell Chapel.

 Food Pantry The purpose of the Food Pantry is to help supplement the diets of low-income, impoverished people, including the elderly, by providing them with nutritious foods at no cost.  The Pantry provides this service to all regardless of race, sex, color, national origin, age, or disability.  Open first and third Friday of each month in the lower level. Sister Edith Prince, Director

 
Fruit of the Spirit (Liturgical Praise and Dance Ministry)
– The purpose of the Fruit of the Spirit is to always seek the will of God, and to worship God in spirit and in truth by creating a welcoming atmosphere for His presence and glory by leading all people into praise and worship.  Membership into the Liturgical Praise and Dance Ministry is open to children who are age eight and older and who support the mission of the ministry.  Members are encouraged to attend Sunday School, Worship Service, and practice regularly.  The ministry meets every Thursday at 5:00 p.m. in the sanctuary of Russell Chapel C.M.E.  Lay Ministry The purpose of the Lay Ministry is to organize ministries as desired by the church (i.e., scouting, etc.).  All members of the church who are not ministers are Lay and are encouraged to participate in the Lay Ministry  Meetings TBA.

 Missionary Society (Della Ralph) – The purpose of the missionary is to serve in any and every capacity for the church; serve the community in any capacity, families in need, visit the sick and shut-in, visit the hospitals, nursing homes and prisoners with spiritual ministry; support the Youth Ministry; and, provide monetary support to those in need.  The Missionary meets the 4th Monday of each month in the lower level at 6:00 p.m. 

New Members Ministry
– The purpose of the New Members Ministry is to strengthen the faith walk of Christians uniting with Russell Chapel C.M.E. Church, to prepare them for full participation in the church worship, ministry and fellowship.  This is accomplished through a 9-week course of instruction regarding the assurances God offers His children as well as lessons in C.M.E. church history, doctrine, and stewardship.  Class meets at 9:30 a.m. on Sunday.

One Church One School  - This ministry is built upon the foundation described by the African proverb: “It takes a whole village to raise a Child.” Educating our children is a part of our village’s responsibility. We believe that “Teaching the Value of Life and the Value of Learning” to our children in this program will improve academic achievement, social behavior and personal development. Now, more than ever, we must join together to provide African American children and all children with an environment which nurtures, strengthens and fortifies them for our global society.  Russell Chapel CME Church has a partnership with Grant Elementary School. We meet from 4:00-5:00 pm every Thursday. Sister Marilyn King, Director.


Stewards
– The purpose of the Stewards, together with the Stewardesses, is to make an estimate of monies needed for the Pastor, that include (but are not limited to) salary, housing, travel expenses for meetings, and pension in the C.M.E. retirement fund.  Receive and keep a record of all monies collected and disbursed in the church and provide financial reports to the pastor and members”.  Meets the third Wednesday of each month following the Trustees meeting. Brother Wilfred Tolson, President


 
Stewardesses
– The purpose of the Stewardesses are to serve the Lord’s Table and maintenance of the altar.  They also, in conjunction with Stewards and Trustees, make an estimate of monies needed for the Pastor, that include (but are not limited to) salary, housing, travel expenses for meetings, and pension in the C.M.E. retirement fund. The Stewardesses meet the Saturday before the first Sunday each month;  time TBA.  Sister Bettie Nunnelly, President


Sunday School
– The purpose of Sunday School is to provide an opportunity to meet every Sunday morning and systematically study the word of God.  Sunday School is the place where Christian conversation about lessons of the Bible and lessons about life can take place.  Meets at 9:30 a.m. each Sunday.

Trustees – The purpose of the Trustee Board includes responsibility for all business of the church pertaining to the properties owned by the church.  They also provide upkeep and maintenance for such properties and insure that all real estate owned by the church is properly titled and insured.  Meets the 3rd Wednesday of each month at 5:00p.m. Sister Helen Jackman, President


Willing Workers
– The purpose of the Willing Workers is to provide assistance to the church whenever and wherever needed.  The Willing Workers offer support and encouragement to the children of the church and community.  Sponsor children’s birthday fellowship the second Sunday of each month – everyone is invited and encouraged to fellowship with the children.  Meets the first Thursday of each month at 6:00 p.m. in the lower level. Sister Paula Hayes, President
